Dawn Buckingham, M.D. Joins The
Eye Clinic Of Texas
League City, Texas - The doctors at The Eye Clinic of Texas (ECOT) announced that Dawn Carlisle Buckingham, M.D. recently joined their ophthalmology practice in July upon completion of her specialty training at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. She is a general ophthalmologist, with a particular interest in refractive surgery.
A 1992 summa cum laude graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, Buckingham later earned her doctorate of medicine from UTMB in 1997. She is currently the assistant chief resident at the university. Throughout her academic career, she has consistently been an honors scholar and has played key roles in numerous research projects. She is in the process of drafting two new publications.
Buckingham has held many leadership positions with key professional organizations, including the Galveston County Medical Society as its first resident delegate to the Texas Medical Association. She is a general member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Medical Association and more.
"Dawn is an intelligent and talented doctor who is going to make a terrific addition to The Eye Clinic of Texas team," said Bernard Milstein, M.D., ophthalmologist and founder of ECOT. "We look forward to introducing her to our patients."
Although a native of Syracuse, N.Y., members of Buckingham's family have lived on Galveston Island since the early 1900s. She currently resides on the Island with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys water and snow skiing, hiking, camping, scuba diving, fishing and mountain biking. She is also active in the Galveston Historical Foundation, Texas Historical Association and the Junior League of Galveston County.
"Becoming a doctor is a long process that takes years of hard work," Buckingham said. "As my academic career nears its end, I am very excited to launch my career with physicians as reputable as those with The Eye Clinic of Texas. I am getting the opportunity to work with some of the finest doctors in the field of ophthalmology and that's truly a dream come true."
